MANHATTAN, Kan. (KCTV) - One of the top scorers in the transfer portal is now committed to Kansas State.

On Monday, Monmouth transfer Abdi Bashir Jr. committed to K-State. News of the commitment was first reported by On3.

Bashir Jr. averaged 20.1 points per game as a sophomore at Monmouth. The 6-foot-7 guard shot 38 percent from 3-point range and 37.7% from the floor.

The Omaha, Nebraska, native was an All-CAA selection for the 2024-25 season. Along with his 20 points per game, he averaged 2.6 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game.

Bashir Jr.’s brother Abdul was one of the top junior college transfers this year and is committed to Auburn.

The 160-pound wing averaged more than 10 attempts from beyond the arc per game as a sophomore. He committed to the Wildcats on the same day K-State guard Brendan Hausen -- their top 3-point shooting threat from last season -- entered the transfer portal.

Bashir Jr. will join a K-State team that went 16-17 during the 2024-25 season, missing the NCAA Tournament for consecutive seasons. He becomes K-State’s second transfer portal addition for next season after the Wildcats added Memphis transfer Tyreek Smith during the middle of last season.
