MANHATTAN, Kan. (KCTV) - K-State junior CJ Jones is the latest Wildcat to enter the transfer portal.

Jones, who played one season for the Wildcats following a transfer from the University of Illinois-Chicago, will have one season of eligibility remaining.

The 6-foot-5 guard from East St. Louis, Illinois, averaged 5.7 points, 1.7 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game for K-State during the 2024-25 season.

He was part of a K-State team that went 16-17 and missed the NCAA Tournament for the second year in a row.

Jones made nine starts for the Wildcats but played 18.8 minutes per game over 33 games with head coach Jerome Tang’s team.

He joins Dug McDaniel, Brendan Hausen, Macaleab Rich, Baye Fall and Ugonna Onyenso as Wildcats from this past season that have entered the transfer portal. So far, only Hausen has found a new school, committing to Iowa last week.

Jones’ departure comes a day after the Wildcats landed Akron guard Nate Johnson out of the transfer portal. Johnson was the MAC Player and Defensive Player of the Year for the 2024-25 season.
